[MEI-L] Automatic beaming

Dear all,

I am working with automatically generated MEI files that contain no beaming
information. This page [1] in the MEI guidelines seems to suggest that
beaming can be done automatically by using beam.group. So I tried adding
beam.group='4,4,4,4' to either the scoreDef or the staffDefs of my example,
as follows:

<scoreDef key.sig='1f' meter.count='4' meter.unit='4' beam.group='4,4,4,4'>

... but there is no difference when I render the file - none of the notes
are beamed.

I am not an experienced user, and I am just playing around figuring things
out - so it is very well possible that I am misunderstanding the usage of
beam.group. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
