Dear Daniel,

Digital editions can store both spatial and temporal information, so
they can, in principle, be used to store performances that are
synchronized with the notation. My experimental Assistant Performer
software [1] does this already.

The long term goal is to be able to study (and develop) performance
practice traditions for both old and new notations, but there's some way
to go before we can start talking seriously about that. :-)

All the best,
James Ingram
