Hi, Raffaele,
Actually, Kay mentioned MEI in XSLT 2.0 Programmer's Reference, 3rd edition (p. 4), which we called attention to in our grant applications. I like that he says that MEI and SMDL are "really serious contenders". Coverage of MusicXML has been added, as it didn't appear in the earlier edition.
