  Dear List,

having been addressed during the virtual meeting and being part of the
next aims of the MEI in particular in means of dissemination and
tutoring, the technical team had a short discussion on the creation
MEI-Guidelines. With the Tag Library being a documentation of the schema
from a technical point of view, the Guidelines shall be designed in more
"musicologist-appealing" manner, i.e. a prose text explaining how to use
the elements and illustrated by examples. Of course there should be
cross-referencing both from and to the Tag Library.
As an initial general structure we propose approaching this huge effort
by module and there have already been a couple of volunteers for editing
certain modules (see list below).
Perry Roland and Johannes Kepper will be editors in chief and give a
head start on the shared module in order to deliver a first basis to
build upon. Moreover Joachim Veit, Maja Hartwig and Christina Richts
will try to map the "Requirements Specification List" to the modules in
order to make use of the efforts that already went into creating that.
The CMN being fairly the largest module might be subdivided, but a
strategy for that still has to be developed.
Nevertheless we invite all of you to join and roll up for a certain
module or topic, that you feel familiar with or even have expertise in,
be it as contributor or responsible editor. Details on the workflow and
on the means of submitting to the guidelines will be given later by our
editors in chief.
Below you'll find the current list (promised above) giving an overview
