Dear members of our community,

I would like to direct your attention to the fact that this fall, two leading
conferences come together in one place from *September 29 to October 2* in
*Paderborn, Germany*:

2026 IEEE Symposium on Human-Centric Computing and Visual Languages (VL/HCC)
<https://conf.researchr.org/home/vlhcc-2026> and

11th IFIP International Working Conference on Human-Centered Software
Engineering (HCSE) <https://conf.researchr.org/home/hcse-2026>

Why may that be important to *you*? How can you *benefit *from *co-locating*
these two exciting and important events?

  * *Maximize your impact:* Submit your work to VL/HCC, HCSE, or even both - and
possibly get papers accepted at two conferences. The more submissions we
get, the more papers we can accept!
  * *Get the best of both:* Benefit from the similarities of topics, while
taking advantage of the different conference formats.
  * *Shared highlights:* A mix of joint activities (e.g. keynotes,
posters/demos, social events) and parallel tracks.
  * *More opportunities:* A variety of tracks where you can submit papers,
contribute your work, and participate (see tracks and deadlines below)
  * *Broaden your network:* Meet both communities in one place. While VL/HCC has
a long and successful tradition as an IEEE-sponsored
    <https://conferences.computer.org/VLHCC/> event, HCSE is a bi-annual working
conference organized by the IFIP Working Group 13.2 on Methodology for
    User-Centred System Design
    <http://ifip-tc13.org/working-groups/working-group-13-2/> in those years
when there is no INTERACT <https://interact.ifip-tc13.org/> conference.
  * *Reduce traveling and cost:* Two events at the cost of only one trip.
Attending both events will allow you to save even more of your conference
budget thanks to a *substantial discount on the registration fees*.

*Important Deadlines*

*About Paderborn*

Paderborn <https://www.paderborn.de/microsite/welcome/index.php> is a
medium-size city located in the heart of Germany. Paderborn combines tradition
with high-tech. The heritage of computer pioneer Heinz Nixdorf has shaped the
city, university, and economy. The Heinz Nixdorf Museum
<https://www.hnf.de/en/home.html> right next to the SICP is the world’s largest
computer museum. And there is definitely more to see in Paderborn and around.

Paderborn can be easily reached from its regional airport PAD (with multiple
daily connections to/from Munich International Airport MUC) or by train/car
within 2-3 hours from many other international airports such as Frankfurt FRA,
Düsseldorf DUS, Cologne CGN, and Hanover HAJ.

The organizing committees of both VL/HCC
<https://conf.researchr.org/committee/vlhcc-2026/vlhcc-2026-organizing-committee>
and HCSE
<https://conf.researchr.org/committee/hcse-2026/hcse-2026-organizing-committee>
are looking forward to receiving your contributions and welcoming you to our
/Joint International Conferences on Human-Centric Computing and Software
Engineering/ in Paderborn this fall!
