From D.Lewis at gold.ac.uk Mon Jul 12 18:40:35 2021 From: D.Lewis at gold.ac.uk (David Lewis) Date: Mon, 12 Jul 2021 16:40:35 +0000 Subject: [mei-tablature-ig] MEI Tablature Interest Group meeting 22 July Message-ID: <771F673F-EE82-4E55-9F26-519F171F3F4E@gold.ac.uk> Dear MEI Tablature Interest Group members, As part of the Music Encoding Conference for 2021, we’ll be having a short (c.1 hour) IG meeting on Thursday 22 July at 5:50 BST, 6:50 CEST. I’m attaching a Zoom link for the meeting. Please do feel free to circulate this as widely as would be helpful. Mostly, I imagine we’ll be catching up with the status of documentation and tools and sharing news and future plans. If there’s anything you’d like to see included explicitly in our agenda, please get in touch with me or co-convenor Reinier de Valk. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Topic: Tablature IG meeting Time: Jul 22, 2021 06:50 PM Madrid Join Zoom Meeting https://zoom.us/j/99889557308?pwd=Qlg3cGx2a25JeUhzdzJCMTl3eDZKQT09 Meeting ID: 998 8955 7308 Passcode: Paumann ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For those on this list who haven’t been to an MEC before, this year might be a good one to get a taster - no need for travelling, and very cheap registration. Nonetheless, registration is not essential for the IG session, so please do come – even if just to show us the level of interest in tablature-related work. I look forward to seeing you then. After a quick review of the previous year’s progress, which has included getting basic tablature display into Verovio – an in-browser music rendering tool – and some progress on formalising MEI tablature, we had a look at what might be blocking further progress. This was mostly looking at the most common bits of the notation that go beyond numbers on lines. Notes from the meeting are included here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-0OwElAXgo-QDO77j5bYBsa4d5hMLAFZsfIzhTkj8Jw/edit?ts=60f86758# If anyone is interested either in the encoding discussions raised (particularly fingerings and ‘tenuto’ holding lines), or in helping us extend Verovio, please do get in touch. I think it would probably be helpful if we were to have at least one meeting of the IG before the next MEC. We’ll try to arrange something and will notify the list when we have something concrete to share. Best wishes, David
