I would like to propose that episemas be considered as an articulation, which is already implemented in MEI, both as an element and as an attribute for . See: http://music-encoding.org/documentation/3.0.0/artic/ http://music-encoding.org/documentation/3.0.0/att.articulation/ http://music-encoding.org/documentation/3.0.0/data.ARTICULATION/ MEI articulations include things like: Accent, Staccato, and Toe (for organ pedal). Having the articulations available as an element or an attribute make the encoding flexible. Below are some examples. Let me know what you think. This isn’t that. ☺ Since the inial letter is a segment of the syllable, and an initial is a special kind of segment, I’d recommend the following instead – KY Alternatively, we could add a special-purpose element, say , that can go inside . -- p.
