Dear MEI community,
Those of you following this list (or who were at the IAML conference
this summer) will be aware that we have been surveying the use of
musical annotations as part of our project 'Annote: Digital Notation
Annotation for RISM'.
We've drafted a report based on that survey, which we will use to inform
extensions to the Verovio music engraving library.
Before we start on that work, we would very much welcome feedback,
observations and corrections on our report from the community (your
input will also be acknowledged in future versions of this document).
You can find the report here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Hhih8UKTRRhf_CObTL5Neo_2yaCx46SycDIesPj1mTY/edit?usp=sharing
The document is open for commenting, but if you would prefer to contact
us directly, we are happy to take feedback by e-mail or on the MEI slack
as well.
In addition, we will be adding a slot to the agenda of the MEI community
meeting on December 2.
We would like all feedback to reach us by ** 7 December ** (and be
warned -- it's quite a long document).
Please do help us by giving your opinions and expertise, and thank you
to all those who participated in our survey. We are not yet ready to
make the survey responses or summary publicly available (we expect to
publish them in an academic venue in the near future and we are also
evaluating them from a privacy and ethics point of view), but we may be
able to share these in confidence on a one-to-one basis in some
circumstances.
Thank you again for your continued help and support. We look forward to
your input!
David Lewis
