Call for Papers

4th Workshop on Horn Clauses for Verification and Synthesis (HCVS)
Affiliated with CADE 2017

August 7, 2017 - Gothenburg, Sweden

http://software.imdea.org/Conferences/hcvs17

Invited speakers:

- Christoph Weidenbach, Max-Planck-Institut fuer Informatik
- Arie Gurfinkel, University of Waterloo

Submission deadlines:

- Paper submission: June 11, 2017
- Paper notification: July 3, 2017
- Workshop: August 7, 2017

Many Program Verification and Synthesis problems of interest can be
modeled directly using Horn clauses, and many recent advances in the
CLP and CAV communities have centered around efficiently solving
problems presented as Horn clauses.

This workshop aims to bring together researchers working in the
communities of Constraint/Logic Programming (e.g., ICLP and CP),
Program Verification (e.g., CAV, TACAS, and VMCAI), and Automated
Deduction (e.g., CADE), on the topic of Horn clause based analysis,
verification and synthesis.

Horn clauses for verification and synthesis have been advocated by
these communities at different times and from different perspectives,
and this workshop is organized to stimulate interaction and a fruitful
exchange and integration of experiences.

The workshop follows three previous meetings: HCVS 2016 in Eindhoven,
The Netherlands (w/ETAPS), HCVS 2015 in San Francisco, CA, USA
(w/CAV), and HCVS 2014 in Vienna, Austria (w/VSL).

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the use of Horn
clauses, constraints, and related formalisms in the following areas:

- Analysis and verification of programs and systems of various kinds
  (e.g., imperative, object-oriented, functional, logic, higher-order,
  concurrent)
- Program synthesis
- Program testing
- Program transformation
- Constraint solving
- Type systems
- Case studies and tools
- Challenging problems

We solicit regular papers describing theory and implementation of
Horn-clause based analysis and tool descriptions. We also solicit
extended abstracts describing work-in-progress, as well as
presentations covering previously published results that are of
interest to the workshop.

Submission has to be done in one of the following formats:

- Regular papers (up to 12 pages plus bibliography, typeset in EPTCS
format), which should present previously unpublished work (completed
or in progress), including descriptions of research, tools, and
  applications.

- Extended abstracts (up to 3 pages in EPTCS format), which describe
work in progress or aim to initiate discussions.

- Presentation-only papers, i.e., papers already submitted or
presented at a conference or another workshop. Such papers can be
submitted in any format, and will not be included in the workshop
  post-proceedings.

All submitted papers will be refereed by the program committee and
will be selected for inclusion in accordance with the referee
reports. Accepted regular papers and extended abstracts will be
published electronically as a volume in the Electronic Proceedings in
Theoretical Computer Science (EPTCS) series, see http://www.eptcs.org/

The internationally recognized ADBIS conference already for 21 years is
gathering researchers and practitioners around topics related to databases,
data processing, and information systems, in general. The conference is run
in Europe but attracts researchers from all over the world. The 21st ADBIS
conference will be held in Nicosia, Cyprus. The conference is accompanied
by satellite events, including doctoral consortia and workshops.

DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM

The Doctoral Consortium (DC) is a forum where PhD students can present
their research ideas, confront them with the scientific community, receive
feedback from mentors, and tie cooperation bounds. Students will receive
inspiration from their peers and will have a chance to discuss their research
objectives with senior members of the community in the context of an
established international conference.

The DC session will take place on September 24, in parallel with the
workshop sessions. Each participant will present her/his work, followed by
a discussion with senior researchers.

ELIGIBILITY

We seek PhD students who have either determined the direction of their
thesis research (probably with some preliminary results already published),
but who still have substantial work to complete, or PhD student participants
who are in the early stages of their dissertation year. It is not required to
have a paper accepted for the main conference in order to participate in
the DC.

SUBMISSIONS

To apply to the DC, please submit a single-authored paper (which will
appear in the proceedings of DC), accompanied by a short email from the
thesis advisor stating support for your participation in the DC, describing
the current status of the thesis research, and giving your expected date of
graduation.

The papers for DC should be at most 12 pages in Springer format (formatting
instructions can be obtained via
http://www.cs.ucy.ac.cy/~george/lm/lm.php?tk=c2NlLmNhcmxldG9uLmNhICwJCQlmZy1hcmNAbGlzdHMudW5pLXBhZGVyYm9ybi5kZQkyMXN0IEV1cm9wZWFuIENvbmZlcmVuY2Ugb24gQWR2YW5jZXMgaW4gRGF0YWJhc2VzIGFuZCBJbmZvcm1hdGlvbiBTeXN0ZW1zIChBREJJUyAyMDE3KTogRmlmdGggQ2FsbCBmb3IgRG9jdG9yYWwgQ29uc29ydGl1bQk5MAlMaXN0cwkxODMJY2xpY2sJeWVzCW5v&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.springer.com%2Fcomputer%2Flncs%3FSGWID%3D0-164-2-793332-0%29 and
describe the state of the whole PhD project, rather than a specific completed
result. The paper should outline the objectives, the problem, state of the art,
results obtained so far, and what is still to be done in the frame of the PhD
project. If an author prefers to present a completed research result, the
paper should be submitted to the main conference or one of accompanying
workshops. A paper submitted to the DC may not be under review for any
other conference or journal during the time it is being considered for the DC.

Submissions should be made electronically in PDF format at CMT:
http://www.cs.ucy.ac.cy/~george/lm/lm.php?tk=c2NlLmNhcmxldG9uLmNhICwJCQlmZy1hcmNAbGlzdHMudW5pLXBhZGVyYm9ybi5kZQkyMXN0IEV1cm9wZWFuIENvbmZlcmVuY2Ugb24gQWR2YW5jZXMgaW4gRGF0YWJhc2VzIGFuZCBJbmZvcm1hdGlvbiBTeXN0ZW1zIChBREJJUyAyMDE3KTogRmlmdGggQ2FsbCBmb3IgRG9jdG9yYWwgQ29uc29ydGl1bQk5MAlMaXN0cwkxODMJY2xpY2sJeWVzCW5v&url=https%3A%2F%2Fcmt3.research.microsoft.com%2FADBISDC2017. In case of multiple
files, please submit a single compressed file (zip or rar). After logging into
CMT, please choose the "ADBIS 2017 Doctoral Consortium" track.

REVIEW PROCESS

Each paper submitted to the DC will be reviewed by at least two members
of the DC program committee and will be judged based on originality,
technical merit, presentation quality, and relevance. The authors of
successful submissions must take into account the reviewers' comments
during the preparation of the final version and describe the changes in a
separate document to be submitted together with the final camera-ready
version. The program committee reserves the right to reject a paper if the
final version does not meet the requirements above.

Applications not adhering to the provided guidelines (including page limits)
will not be considered. The authors of accepted papers must register to the
conference, attend the DC and present their work.

PROCEEDINGS

The DC papers will be published by Springer, together with the ADBIS
workshops proceedings, in the Advances in Intelligent Systems and
Computing series.

Conference Themes

The overarching conference theme is 'mLearning and Design for Social
Change and Innovation'. Higher education institutions are called upon to
provide for the competencies and skills that foster design for social
change and innovation. In addition, knowledge and skills alliances are
encouraged by funding bodies to cultivate, share and disseminate
competencies that foster social entrepreneurship and innovation. However,
little is known on how mlearning can facilitate this process, how it can
contribute towards social change, innovation and entrepreneurship.

The topics of interest can go beyond the conference theme, and can
include any of the following:

· The development, deployment and implementation of mlearning in the
context of social entrepreneurship, innovation and social change
· mLearning as a tool that fosters social change and social entrepreneurship

This symposium will be co-located with “Computability in Europe (CiE)
2017“. It takes place on June 17, 2017, immediately after CiE. The
symposium celebrates the 75th birthday of Prof. Grzegorz Rozenberg,
University of Leiden, the Netherlands and University of Colorado at
Boulder, USA (the actual birthday date is March 14).

Grzegorz Rozenberg is one of the world leaders in research on
Theoretical Computer Science and Natural Computing. As a matter of fact,
he is often called the guru of Natural Computing, having started
promoting it as a coherent scientific discipline already from the 1970s
– he gave this area its name and defined its scope. He played a central
role in the development of theoretical computer science in Europe. His
research is very broad in scope and it is a prime example
of interdisciplinary research. He has authored exceptionally many
research papers opening new vistas as well as well-known books
about theoretical computer science and natural computing. He
supervised numerous Ph.D. students, many of whom have become

He serves or has served the international computer science community in
numerous roles, including: president of the European Association for
Theoretical Computer Science (EATCS); cofounder and president of the
International Society for Nanoscale Science, Computation,
and Engineering (ISNSCE); chair of the steering committee of the DNA
Computing Conference; cofounder and chair of the steering committee of
the International Conference on Application and Theory of Petri Nets;
chair of the steering committee of the European Educational
Forum; cofounder and chair of the steering committee of the
International Conference on Developments in Language Theory; co-chair of
the steering committee of the International Conference on Unconventional
Computation and Natural Computation; and director of European
Molecular Computing Consortium.

He also served on the editorial boards of many international journals
and book series. He is the editor-in-chief and either the founder or a

journal Natural Computing, the journal Theoretical Computer Science C
(Theory of Natural Computing), the book series Monographs and Texts in
Theoretical Computer Science, the book series Natural Computing, and the
book series Advances in Petri Nets. For over 20 years, he was the editor
of the Bulletin of the European Association for Theoretical Computer
Science. He edited four handbooks: on formal languages, on graph
grammars and computing by graph transformations, on membrane computing,
and on natural computing.

G. Rozenberg is a Foreign Member of the Finnish Academy of Sciences and
Letters, a member of Academia Europaea, and the holder of Honorary
Doctorates of the University of Turku, Finland, the Technical University
of Berlin, Germany, the University of Bologna, Italy, the Ã…bo
Akademi University in Turku, Finland, the Warsaw University of
Technology, Poland, and the University of Bucharest, Romania. He has
received the Distinguished Achievements Award of the
European Association for Theoretical Computer Science “in recognition of

Das geplante Programm:

-----------------------------------
31.05.2017, 10:00-12:00

Roland Majchszak (adesso)

Hannes Dohrn (FAU):
The Microservice Architecture of Sweble Hub

Sweble Hub is a wiki-like knowledge management system and uses a
collaboration model similar to that of GitHub. Instead of contributing
to other people's projects (a.k.a. wikis) directly, an author forks a
project to make it her own, then performs the desired changes and
finally sends a pull request to the original project. It will be
possible to fork the entire English Wikipedia and contribute back to the
original project. While we will offer the software as a service and
on-premise we will also host public projects for free.
To support the feature set of Sweble Hub we have chosen a microservice
based architecture that is not tied to a particular cloud solution. Our
technology stack relies on Java and Javascript as main programming
languages, HTTP APIs for inter-service communication and the docker
infrastructure as a means to deploy microservices into a cloud. A role
and permission based security model is used to authorize requests to
individual services. Persistent storage is provided by SQL databases and
distributed database systems like Cassandra. In this talk I will present
the design decisions and the current architecture of the Sweble Hub
project including the measures we took to allow for easy testability
during development.

Andreas Steffens (RWTH): Microservice-basiertes Continuous Delivery System

Holger Knoche (b+m Informatik AG & CAU):
Treiber und Hindernisse für die Adoption von Microservices in der
deutschen Sofwareindustrie

12-13 Lunch

13-15:30 Uhr

Wilhelm Hasselbring (CAU):

- Ziele des Arbeitskreises

- Wahl Leitungsgremium etc

- Weitere Aktivitäten
(beispielsweise eine Sammlung und Veröffentlichung von
Microservice-basierten Architekturbeschreibungen)

- Nächstes Treffen

15:30 Uhr: Kaffee und Ausklang

-----------------------------------

Hier noch einmal die Hintergrund-Idee des AK:
Modularisierung ist ein grundlegendes Prinzip im Softwareentwurf
(http://dl.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=361623). Microservices dienen zur
Modularisierung von Softwaresystemen. Eine wesentliche Eigenschaft von
Microservices -- im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Modularisierungsansätzen
wie z.B. Modulen und Komponenten -- ist das unabhängige Deployment. Dazu
erhalten die einzelnen Microservices insbesondere auch eigene
Datenhaltungssysteme.

austauschen.

Schöne Grüße,

       Wilhelm (Willi) Hasselbring

*** Deadline Extension: June 2, 2017 ***

It is not required to
have a paper accepted for the main conference in order to participate in
the DC.

SUBMISSIONS

To apply to the DC, please submit a single-authored paper (which will
appear in the proceedings of DC), accompanied by a short email from the
thesis advisor stating support for your participation in the DC, describing
the current status of the thesis research, and giving your expected date of
graduation.

The papers for DC should be at most 12 pages in Springer format (formatting
instructions can be obtained via
http://www.cs.ucy.ac.cy/~george/lm/lm.php?tk=c2NlLmNhcmxldG9uLmNhICwJCQlmZy1hcmNAbGlzdHMudW5pLXBhZGVyYm9ybi5kZQkyMXN0IEV1cm9wZWFuIENvbmZlcmVuY2Ugb24gQWR2YW5jZXMgaW4gRGF0YWJhc2VzIGFuZCBJbmZvcm1hdGlvbiBTeXN0ZW1zIChBREJJUyAyMDE3KTogTGFzdCBDYWxsIGZvciBEb2N0b3JhbCBDb25zb3J0aXVtCTk5CUxpc3RzCTE4MgljbGljawl5ZXMJbm8=&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.springer.com%2Fcomputer%2Flncs%3FSGWID%3D0-164-2-793332-0%29 and
describe the state of the whole PhD project, rather than a specific completed

Submissions should be made electronically in PDF format at CMT:
http://www.cs.ucy.ac.cy/~george/lm/lm.php?tk=c2NlLmNhcmxldG9uLmNhICwJCQlmZy1hcmNAbGlzdHMudW5pLXBhZGVyYm9ybi5kZQkyMXN0IEV1cm9wZWFuIENvbmZlcmVuY2Ugb24gQWR2YW5jZXMgaW4gRGF0YWJhc2VzIGFuZCBJbmZvcm1hdGlvbiBTeXN0ZW1zIChBREJJUyAyMDE3KTogTGFzdCBDYWxsIGZvciBEb2N0b3JhbCBDb25zb3J0aXVtCTk5CUxpc3RzCTE4MgljbGljawl5ZXMJbm8=&url=https%3A%2F%2Fcmt3.research.microsoft.com%2FADBISDC2017. Modeling (EXE 2017)
Message-ID: <35bb08ec2373439fb2e661818a60540c@mbx13b.intern.tuwien.ac.at>

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Call for Papers:
3nd International Workshop on Executable Modeling (EXE 2017)
co-located with MODELS 2017
September 17-19, 2017
Austin, Texas
http://www.modelexecution.org/exe2017
------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are pleased to invite you to submit papers to the Third International Workshop on Executable Modeling (EXE 2017), held in conjunction with the ACM/IEEE 20th International Conference on Model Driven Engineering Languages and Systems (MODELS) at Austin, Texas, on September 17-19, 2017.

---------------------------
Scope and Topics
---------------------------
The complexity of modern software-intensive systems, time-to-market pressures, and the need for high quality systems are current challenges faced by the software and systems engineering industry. To address these challenges, model-driven engineering (MDE) advocates the elevation of models into the center of the development process. Models provide abstractions over the system to be developed, while also providing enough detail to automate the development of implementation artifacts and perform early system analysis.
In this context, executable models become more and more important. Executable models provide abstractions of complex system behaviors and constitute the basis for performing early analyses of that behavior. The ability to analyze a system's behavior early in its development has the potential to turn executable models into important assets of a model-driven development process.
Despite the potential benefits of executable models, there are still many challenges to solve, such as the lack of maturity in the definition of and tooling for executable modeling languages, and the limited experience with executable modeling in much of the software and systems development industry. EXE 2017 will provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to discuss these challenges and propose potential solutions, as well as to assess and advance the state-of-the-art in this area.

Topics of interest for the workshop include but are not limited to the following:
* Methodologies, languages, techniques, and methods for designing and implementing executable modeling languages
* Case studies and experience reports on the successful or failed adoption of executable modeling in different application domains and application contexts
* Model execution tools for the (dynamic) validation, verification, and testing of systems (e.g., model animation, debugging, simulation, trace exploration, model checking, symbolic execution)
* Tracing model executions and analyzing model execution traces
* Automation techniques for the development of model execution tools
* Evolution in the context of executable modeling (e.g., evolution of executable modeling languages, execution semantics, executable models, model execution tools)
* Verification of semantic conformance (e.g., among executable modeling languages, executable models, model execution tools)
* Customization of executable modeling languages and model execution tools (e.g., semantic variation points, profiles)
* Composition, extension, and reuse of executable modeling languages and model execution tools
* Integration of executable modeling languages and programming languages
* Semantics-aware model transformations and code generation
* Scalability of model execution and execution-based model analysis
* Execution of partial and underspecified models
* Model execution in the presence of non-determinism and concurrency
* Surveys and benchmarks of different approaches for the development of executable modeling languages, model execution, and execution-based model analysis

---------------------------
Submissions
---------------------------
The following types of submissions are solicited (please indicate the type of your submission as a footnote to the title of your paper):
* Research papers (up to 6 pages) presenting novel and innovative approaches in one of the topics of the workshop. We also strongly encourage the submission of comparative studies and benchmarks of existing approaches in one of the topics.
* Experience reports (up to 6 pages) presenting experiences and lessons learned in one of the topics of the workshop. Experience reports should discuss knowledge gained from an executable modeling project experience and identify key challenges encountered.
* Position papers (up to 2 pages) presenting new ideas or early research results in one of the topics of the workshop.
* Tool demonstration papers (up to 3 pages) presenting novel tools or novel features of state-of-the-art tools related to executable modeling. Submissions of tool demonstration papers should consist of two parts. The first part (up to 3 pages) will be included in the proceedings and should describe the tool presented (a URL where the tool can be downloaded should be included). The second part (up to 2 pages) should explain how the tool demonstration will be carried out at the workshop, including examples and screenshots.

All submissions should follow the IEEE formatting instructions available at http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html.
Submissions created with LaTeX are preferred, but using Word is allowed. For LaTeX, use the document class "\documentclass[conference]{IEEEtran}".

Submit your paper electronically as PDF via EasyChair at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=exe2017.

All submissions will be evaluated by at least three members of the program committee. Research papers, experience reports, and tool demonstration papers will be evaluated concerning novelty, correctness, significance, readability, and alignment with the workshop call. Position papers will be evaluated primarily concerning validity and ability to generate discussion (even controversy), as well as alignment with the workshop call. Furthermore, all submissions must be original work and must not have been previously published or being under review elsewhere.

For each accepted paper, at least one of the authors must register for the workshop, participate fully in the workshop, and present the paper at the workshop. A pre-workshop version of the accepted papers will be available on the workshop website and a post-workshop version will be published as part of the workshop's post-proceedings at CEUR workshop proceedings (http://ceur-ws.org).

---------------------------
Workshop Format
---------------------------
EXE 2017 is a full-day workshop held as part of MODELS 2017. We plan to have one keynote talk in the morning, followed by two sessions of presentations of the accepted papers. The last session of the day will be a discussion session, where challenges, questions, experiences, opinions, and requirements related to executable modeling will be discussed. The detailed program will be announced in August, shortly after the author notifications have been sent.

---------------------------
Important Dates
---------------------------
Submission deadline: July 7, 2017
Author notification: July 28, 2017

About STAF
==========

Software Technologies: Applications and Foundations (STAF) is a federation of
leading conferences on software technologies. It was formed after the end of the
successful TOOLS federated event (http://tools.ethz.ch) in 2012. The
participating conferences focus on practical and foundational advances in
software technology covering a wide range of aspects including formal
foundations of software technology, testing and formal analysis, graph
transformations and model transformations, model driven engineering, and tools.

In 2017, STAF will be hosted at Philipps-Universität Marburg. Marburg is located
in the heart of Germany, one train-hour to the north of Frankfurt. Its
population of 72,000 is made up of 25,000 students and 7,500 university
employees, rendering it a typical “university town”. As one of Germany’s oldest
universities, founded in 1527, Uni Marburg looks back on a long and rich
history. Traditionally focused on the humanities, Uni Marburg has recently
gained momentum in science and technology, notably in the medical, nano, and
material sciences. Touristic hot spots such as the castle and the beautiful old

CALL FOR PAPERS: 11th International Workshop on "Models and Evolution"
Co-located with ACM/IEEE 20th International Conference on Model Driven
Engineering Languages & Systems (MODELS 2017), Austin, Texas, Sept
17-22, 2017
http://www.models-and-evolution.com/

We cordially invite submissions to the 11th International Workshop on
Models and Evolution (ME) held in conjunction with the ACM/IEEE 20th
International Conference on Model Driven Engineering Languages and
Systems (MODELS) at Austin, Texas in September, 2017.

Scope
Software artefacts constantly increase in complexity, variety and
novelty. Environment and business constraints, user requirements and new
insights put additional pressure on their adaptability, availability,
reliability and quality: they continuously need to be up to date. But
evolution issues are critical, complex and costly to manage. They
concern requirements, architecture, design, source code, documentation,
integration or deployment. They also typically affect various kinds of
models (data, behavioral, domain, source code or goal models).
Addressing and managing these varieties of changes is essential. Models
and metamodels, the cornerstone of complex software systems’
abstractions, represent a powerful mean for facing software evolution
challenges by ensuring a more abstract and expressive modeling of
software evolution. They can help and guide software evolution and can
enforce and reduce critical risks and important involved resources. The
workshop puts the focus on Models and Evolution by considering two main
sides: (1) Managing software evolution needs by relying on the
high-level abstraction power of models and metamodels. (2) Managing
model and metamodel evolution needs and the co-evolution of all related
software artefacts by putting attention to their increasing evolution
issues as they become primary artefacts.

ME 2017 will bring together researchers and practitioners to share
experiences in dealing with the various forms of models and evolution.
It combines a strong practical focus with theoretical approaches as
required in any discipline to support engineering practices. ME 2017
targets researchers and practitioners on model-driven engineering to
meet, disseminate and exchange ideas, identify the key issues related to
the problem of models and evolution and explore possible solutions and
future work.

Topics
Contributions are solicited on all aspects of models and evolution, its
foundations, practices and technologies. In particular, we encourage
submissions from both academia and industry about the following
(non-exhaustive) list of topics:
Formalisms, theories, formal approaches, methods and languages for
expressing and understanding model-driven software evolution
Supporting processes and tools for managing model-driven software evolution
(Co-)evolution and (co-)adaptation of models, metamodels and modeling

It is not required to
have a paper accepted for the main conference in order to participate in
the DC.

SUBMISSIONS

To apply to the DC, please submit a single-authored paper (which will
appear in the proceedings of DC), accompanied by a short email from the
thesis advisor stating support for your participation in the DC, describing
the current status of the thesis research, and giving your expected date of
graduation.

The papers for DC should be at most 12 pages in Springer format (formatting
instructions can be obtained via

describe the state of the whole PhD project, rather than a specific completed

Submissions should be made electronically in PDF format at CMT:
http://www.cs.ucy.ac.cy/~george/lm/lm.php?tk=c2NlLmNhcmxldG9uLmNhICwJCQlmZy1hcmNAbGlzdHMudW5pLXBhZGVyYm9ybi5kZQkyMXN0IEV1cm9wZWFuIENvbmZlcmVuY2Ugb24gQWR2YW5jZXMgaW4gRGF0YWJhc2VzIGFuZCBJbmZvcm1hdGlvbiBTeXN0ZW1zIChBREJJUyAyMDE3KTogTGFzdCBNaWxlIGZvciBEQyBQYXBlcnMJMTAzCUxpc3RzCTE4MgljbGljawl5ZXMJbm8=&url=https%3A%2F%2Fcmt3.research.microsoft.com%2FADBISDC2017.
