Dear all,
on behalf of the organizing and program committees I am glad to
announce that more details about the 2014 Conference are now
available at the address:
<<

We are still working on a couple of details (please watch this
space) but the
main facts of this four-day event are now finalized.

First of all, the delightful news is that we were able to secure the
presence of Tim Crawford (no introductions needed to the subscribers
of this list!) as our keynote speaker. Our main program (21-22 May)
also includes 14 papers (no parallel sessions this year! we listened
to your feedback on the Mainz Conference) and several posters
addressing various theoretical and practical issues (mainly but not
confined to MEI), and a round-table discussion on production and
distribution of digital music editions.
Then we have something totally new this year: to respond to the
growing need of quality time and space to exchange ideas, discuss
specific needs, forge collaborations, we decided to held a Hack Day
on Friday 23. More on this very soon.
Those wishing to know more about the MEI Guidelines and the
Edirom project, will have the opportunity to join us on Tuesday 20
for the pre-conference tutorials.
Our friends in Charlottesville organized for us a nice reception
and a dinner in the Solarium and Garden of the Colonnade Club on the
Lawn, and there will be also a lecture/exhibit on American music
publishing based on collections at UVA.
Last but not least, there will be time for the meetings of the
SIGs and for the plenary MEI meeting where to discuss again about
the future organization of the MEI community.

I hope that most of you will join us in Charlottesville, so let me
conclude by recommending that you register, and book your travel
*and* accommodation as soon as possible: the conference is
sandwiched between Graduation weekend at UVA and Memorial weekend.
Please check out the new "Accommodation" and "Registration" pages on
the website.

Many thanks to Christine, Ichiro, Laurent, Richard (program
committee), as well as to Perry, Sarah ("local" local organizers)
with Johannes and Daniel ("remote" local organizers) for their
dedication in making this second conference a reality. We are all
looking forward to this event, and to meeting all of you in
Virginia.

This is all for now--all the best,
