Dear MEI-L:isteners,
thank you very much for some more discussion and help in finalizing the
MEI By-laws!
The document mostly stayed as it was, except for a few typo corrections.
Two comments with regard to contents have been left unimplemented; but
nevertheless commented and obvious for future inspection by the Board.
(The document will stay available at:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1e5eyFeiW6-yscOoBLw9gotzWGA7D_7JBZHiWu5c13eA/edit?usp=sharing)

With this said it is my pleasure to bring to you the

**Call for Candidates for the first MEI Board elections**
**open until 11 December 2014**
**places to fill: 9 (nine)**

To cite from our to be by-laws:
"In order to determine a range of candidates, a four-week nomination
phase will precede the elections, in which self-nominations are
permitted. Individuals will be informed of their nomination and asked to
confirm their willingness to serve on the Board determined. Elections
will be held in a timely manner after determination of a final list of
candidates. A ranked voting system without minimum voter turnout will be
applied.
Each member holding Personal Membership in MEI has the right to vote in
Board member elections."

Some personal notes:
- Anybody receiving this E-Mail via MEI-L is both eligible and has the
right to nominate candidates, as by definition subscription to MEI-L (no
matter how long or short) makes us members to the community.
- Self nominations are welcome.
- Please be aware that a short CV and a personal statement/commitment to
MEI (each with a maximum of 200 words) can be provided by the candidates
for publication on music-encoding.org. Deadline for submission ends with
the Call for Candidates.

The **election** will take place in a timely manner after the the end of
the Call for Candidates. Our hope is to hold elections it the subsequent
week (**December 15 to 22**). More details on how to vote and the
precise voting system will reach you during the next weeks.

With all the best wishes on behalf of the
MEI Interim Steering Group, and
MEI Strategy Development Group,

Benjamin W. Bohl
- Keeper - MEI Strategy Development Group
