</font></b><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#5b5e73">In this lecture, </font><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#283ddb"><a href="https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&user=We0kRfEAAAAJ">Diego Calvanese</a></font><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#5b5e73"> surveys the historical foundations that led to the development of the DL-Lite family of logics, discusses its formal semantics and computational properties, presents different lines of research that find their roots in DL-Lite, and finally illustrates how DL-Lite can be profitably exploited for data management through virtual knowledge graphs.<br>

Diego co-authored the paper </font><i><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#283ddb"><a href="https://www.aaai.org/Papers/AAAI/2005/AAAI05-094.pdf">DL-Lite: Tractable Description Logics for Ontologies</a></font></i><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#5b5e73">, which just got the<b> <i>2021 Classic Paper award</i></b> by the <i>Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI)</i> as the most influential paper published in the AAAI 2005 conference. His research focusses now on Artificial intelligence, Description Logics, Knowledge Representation, Data Management at the </font><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#283ddb"><a href="http://krdb.eu/">KRDB Research Centre for Knowledge and Data</a></font><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#5b5e73"> of the </font><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#283ddb"><a href="http://unibz.it/">Free University of Bozen-Bolzano</a></font><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#5b5e73">, Italy.<br>

Diego is a full professor at the </font><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#283ddb"><a href="http://krdb.eu/">KRDB Research Centre for Knowledge and Data</a></font><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#5b5e73"> of the </font><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#283ddb"><a href="http://unibz.it/">Free University of Bozen-Bolzano</a></font><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#5b5e73"> (Italy) and a Wallenberg Guest Professor in Artificial Intelligence for Data Management at Umeå University (Sweden). Diego is a Fellow of the </font><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#283ddb"><a href="https://eurai.org/">European Association for Artificial Intelligence</a></font><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#5b5e73"> (EurAI) and a Fellow of the </font><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#283ddb"><a href="https://www.acm.org/">Association for Computing Machinery</a></font><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#5b5e73"> (ACM). Diego is the co-founder of </font><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#283ddb"><a href="https://ontopic.biz/">Ontopic</a></font><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#5b5e73">, the first spin-off of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.<br>

The talk is part of the </font><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#283ddb"><a href="http://wld.cipsh.international/wld.html">World Logic Day 2021</a></font><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="5" style="font-size:12pt" color="#5b5e73"> events, co-sponsored by UNESCO. The lecture is scheduled few days after the actual World Logic Day, in order to avoid conflicts with other planned lectures in such an intense day.<br>
