Consequently, the development of such systems requires the integration of different concerns and skills. These concerns can be covered by different domain-specific modeling languages, with specific concepts, technologies, and abstraction levels. This multiplication of languages eases the development related to each individual specific concern but raises language and technology integration problems at the different stages of the software life cycle. To reason about the global system as a whole, it is necessary to explicitly describe the different kinds of relationships that exist between the different languages used in its development. To support effective language integration, there is a pressing need to reify and classify these relationships, as well as the language interactions that the relationships enable. Equally, the proliferation of domain-specific modeling languages required increases the need for effective and efficient techniques for engineering languages and their support infrastructures (transformations, analysis tools, editors, execution infrastructure, debuggers, …). The Modeling Language Engineering (MLE) workshop aims at bringing together researchers and practitioners working on modeling-language and software-language engineering. It is a meeting opportunity for Software Language Engineering (SLE) enthusiasts within the software-modeling community. --------------------------- Topics --------------------------- The topics of interest for MLE 2022 include: - Methodologies, languages, techniques, and methods for designing and implementing modeling languages - Composition, extension, and reuse of modeling languages and model execution tools - Heterogeneous modeling, simulation, and execution - Customization of modeling languages - Integration of modeling languages and programming languages - Semantics-aware model transformations and code generation - Scalability of model execution and execution-based model analysis - Execution of partial and underspecified models - Model execution in the presence of non-determinism and concurrency - Tracing model executions and analyzing model execution traces - Model execution tools for the (dynamic) validation, verification, and testing of systems (e.g., model animation, debugging, simulation, trace exploration, model checking, symbolic execution) - Live modeling and exploratory modeling techniques - Automation techniques for the development of modeling and model execution tools - Evolution in the context of executable modeling (e.g.} evolution of executable modeling languages, execution semantics, executable models, model execution tools) - Verification of semantic conformance (e.g., among executable modeling languages, executable models, model execution tools) - Integration challenges for languages, from requirements to design, for analysis and simulation, during runtime, etc. - Case studies and experience reports on the successful or failed adoption of modeling in different application domains and application contexts - Surveys and benchmarks of different approaches for the development of modeling languages, model execution, and execution-based model analysis Submissions describing practical and industrial experience related to the use of modeling languages are also encouraged, particularly in the following application domains: Cyber-Physical Systems, Smart Manufacturing, Industry 4.0; Internet of Services, Internet of Things; Smart City, Smart Building, Home automation; Smart and Learning systems. --------------------------- Workshop Format --------------------------- This full-day workshop will prioritize discussions over presentations. We plan to open with a keynote in the morning, followed by paper presentations. The afternoon will then be spent primarily in discussions inspired by topics raised by the keynotes and paper presentations. Where there is sufficient divergence in the topics raised, we will create break-out groups of participants interested in each sub-topic. The goal of these discussions is to identify commonalities and connections between different topics, support research networking, cross-pollination, and informal knowledge transfer. The final session of the workshop will be focused on summarising the key topics and ideas discussed at the workshop to help identify the next steps that may be followed up by workshop participants. --------------------------- Submission and Publication --------------------------- We expect early research results about the aforementioned topics, descriptions of problems, case studies, experience reports, or solutions related to the topics of interest. Each contribution must be described in a short paper of 5 pages or a full paper of 10 pages, in ACM format (acmart). Two more pages containing only references are permitted. Papers that describe use cases or novel approaches can be accompanied by concrete artifacts, such as models (requirements, design, analysis, transformation, composition, etc.), stored in a public repository. Artifacts should illustrate any experience with the conjoint use of different modeling languages. All submissions have to follow the ACM format (acmart) and must be submitted electronically in PDF format [via Easychair](https://easychair.org/my/conference?conf=mle2022). They will be evaluated by at least three members of the program committee regarding novelty, correctness, significance, readability, and alignment with the workshop call. Furthermore, all submissions must be original work and must not have been previously published or being under review elsewhere. The accepted papers will be included in the joint workshop proceedings published in the ACM Digital Library and indexed in DBLP and Scopus. --------------------------- Important Dates --------------------------- - Abstract submission deadline: July 13, 2022 - Paper submission deadline: July 20, 2022 - Notification of acceptance: August 19, 2022 - Camera-ready deadline: August 26, 2022 --------------------------- Organization committee --------------------------- - Erwan Bousse (Nantes University) - Faezeh Khorram (IMT Atlantique) - Juha-Pekka Tolvanen (MetaCase) --------------------------- Program Committee --------------------------- TBA From U.K.Gadiraju at tudelft.nl Fri Jun 3 13:24:05 2022 From: U.K.Gadiraju at tudelft.nl (Ujwal Gadiraju) Date: Fri, 3 Jun 2022 11:24:05 +0000 Subject: [fg-arc] [ACM Conference on Hypertext & Social Media, HT 2022] Call for Participation Message-ID: <2537d98d90b545bd96d7e3e0c9d31529@tudelft.nl> Hi all, --- Apologies if you have received multiple copies of this announcement CALL FOR PARTICIPATION === The ACM Conference on Hypertext and Social Media is a premium venue for high-quality peer-reviewed research on hypertext theory, systems and applications. This week we have the pleasure of listening to Dr Tim Nelson's (Brown University, US) lecture on Friday June 17, 2022, at 3 pm CET. His talk is entitled "Building Formal Methods Classes for Everybody". The abstract of Dr Nelson's lecture is here: We think math and logic are beautiful and essential. If you teach a formal methods class, you probably agree. Some of our students, perhaps the most visible to us, also feel that way. But what about the other 90%, the students who aren’t inclined to take our classes or any non-required “theory” class at all? If formal methods really are essential, we owe every student an opportunity to explore them, discover useful ideas, and maybe even fall in love. Some people derisively respond to a more inclusive class by assuming it will coddle students. On the contrary, these students have their own strengths and abilities that we can and should design rigorous content around. After all, many of them will build the technologies we all use every day, so deepening their view of formalism satisfies both moral and selfish imperatives. This talk will cover the design space of such a course: pedagogy, tool choice (sometimes building our own!), assignment design, and even TA hiring. I’ll talk about things that have worked well for us, other things that didn’t, and what we learned along the way. The zoom link is https://aboakademi.zoom.us/j/64254430116. The event will last about an hour. Warmly welcome!! Best wishes, Luigia PS1: the tutorial series webpage is updated with the list of speakers who confirmed their lectures in 2022 here: https://fme-teaching.github.io/2021/08/24/tutorial-series-of-the-fme-teaching-committee/. Please note that we have a speaker every month from now on until October!! PS2: the June 2022 lecture is scheduled exceptionally on the 17th of the month, instead of the usual last Friday of the month, due to the summer holidays of some of the involved academics. __ Luigia Petre, Docent, PhD Faculty of Science and Engineering Åbo Akademi University, Finland www.users.abo.fi/lpetre -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR) principles were elaborated to address these issues, describing a set of requirements for data reusability and interoperability. These principles have been gaining increasing attention in a range of different areas and applications, including in the industrial area. A key aspect in making data FAIR is the ability of machines to automatically find, access, interoperate, and reuse data with none or minimal human intervention. For that, the ability of properly and semantically describing data is essential. Please distribute to interested parties.] --------------------------------------------------------------------------- THIRD CALL FOR PAPERS 4th International Workshop on the Resurgence of Datalog in Academia and Industry Datalog 2.0 2022 https://tinyurl.com/datalog20-22 September 5, 2022, Genova - Nervi, Italy Workshop of LPNMR 2022 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- AIMS AND SCOPE Datalog 2.0 is a workshop for Datalog researchers, implementors, and users. Its aim is to bring together researchers and practitioners interested in different aspects of Datalog to share research experiences, promote collaboration and identify directions for joint future research. The 4th International Workshop on the Resurgence of Datalog in Academia and Industry (Datalog 2.0 2022) will be held in Genova, Italy, on September 5, 2022. Datalog 2.0 2022 is a workshop of the 16th International Conference on Logic Programming and Non-monotonic Reasoning (LPNMR 2022). The first edition of Datalog 2.0 was held in Oxford, UK, in 2010, and it was by invitation only. Since Datalog has resurrected as a lively topic with applications in many different areas of computer science, as well as industry, the second and the third edition of the workshop, which were held in Vienna in 2012 and in Philadelphia in 2019, respectively, were open for submissions. INVITED SPEAKER Reinhard Pichler, Vienna University of Technology, Austria Title: Novel Techniques in Datalog Optimization Abstract: Datalog has been specifically designed for processing recursive queries. As such it seems the perfect fit for today's data analytics applications, which typically require some kind of iteration or recursion. However, basic analytical tasks such as computing shortest paths, betweenness centrality, or connected components in a graph as well as solving optimization problems by gradient descent or other methods crucially depend on aggregation. For Datalog, this poses new challenges due to the loss of the usual monotonicity properties in case of aggregation. In this talk, I will present recent work in which *) we have studied a generalization of Datalog that allows for recursive computations over general semirings (with classical Datalog corresponding to the special case of the Boolean semiring), *) we have analyzed the convergence of this generalization of Datalog, and *) we have introduced a powerful new optimization technique that covers known optimizations such as magic-set rewriting as well as new ones. This talk is mainly based on the following papers: [1] Mahmoud Abo Khamis, Hung Q. Ngo, Reinhard Pichler, Dan Suciu, Yisu Remy Wang: Convergence of Datalog over (Pre-) Semirings. PODS 2022. [2] Yisu Remy Wang, Mahmoud Abo Khamis, Hung Q. Ngo, Reinhard Pichler, Dan Suciu: Optimizing Recursive Queries with Progam Synthesis. SIGMOD Conference 2022. TOPICS Authors are invited to submit papers presenting original and unpublished research on the foundational aspects of Datalog, as well as on its applications in other areas of computer science and in industry. Potential areas of application of Datalog may include (among others): data management, data mining, knowledge representation and reasoning, cloud computing, distributed computing, logic programming, privacy and security, probabilistic reasoning, program analysis, programming languages, semantic web, social networks, streaming, verification, web services. SUBMISSION Datalog 2.0 2022 welcomes two types of submissions * Long papers of up to 12 pages, presenting original research * Short papers of up to 5 pages that may contain either original ongoing research or recently published results in the following categories * Technical papers * System descriptions * Application descriptions The indicated number of pages includes title page and references. All submissions will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be submitted for publication in the CEUR Workshop proceedings (http://ceur-ws.org). Authors can opt-out if desired. At least one author of each accepted paper must attend the workshop to present the work. Submissions must be written in English, and formatted according to Springer's guidelines and technical instructions available at: https://www.springer.com/gp/authors-editors/conference-proceedings/conference-proceedings-guidelines Paper submission is enabled via the Datalog 2.0 2022 EasyChair site:https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=datalog20-22 Up to five best regular papers will be invited for rapid publication in the journal of Theory and Practice of Logic Programming (TPLP). FURTHER INFORMATION WWW:https://tinyurl.com/datalog20-22 Email:datalog20-22 at easychair.org IMPORTANT DATES Paper registration: July 1 Paper submission: July 8 Notification: August 1 Final versions due: August 20 VENUE The workshop will take place in Genova Nervi, Italy, in the Collegio Emiliani (http://www.collegioemiliani.it/, information available only in Italian on this link), which is a college directly situated on the see. Genova is the capital of Liguria, stretching along the bay of the same name from Nervi to the east as far as Voltri to the west. Genova’s old town district (reachable by local train, by bus, as well as by boat) is one of the largest in Europe, and hosts some remarkable artistic and architectural treasures, including the Palazzi dei Rolli, fifty or so homes of the aristocracy entered on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Nervi is a former fishing village, now a suburb of Genoa, 7 km east of central Genova. Two of the most important tourist attractions of Genoa are in Nervi: the sea promenade, a 2 km walkway along the cliffs, and the "Parchi di Nervi". The sea promenade is famous for the stunning views that make it one of Italy's most beautiful promenades. While the "Parchi di Nervi" is a park of about 22 acres (9 hectares) created from the gardens of the Villa Grimaldi, Villa Groppallo, and Villa Serra. It has typical Mediterranean plant species and many exotic species and the entrance is just at the end of the promenade. In addition to offering a wealth of cultural attractions, Genova is a fascinating destination for tourists, with its scenic vantage points, sea promenades, aristocratic villas, and of course the Riviera to the east and west, both easy to reach: Portovenere and Le Cinque Terre (also UNESCO World Heritage Sites), Portofino and Camogli to the east and Alassio, Sanremo, Bordighera to the west. Of course, we will continuously monitor the pandemic situation in order to evaluate whether the conference can be indeed held as an in-person event, or we will need to switch to a hybrid event, if not completely on-line. --------------------------- Keynote --------------------------- Prof. Juan de Lara --------------------------- Topics --------------------------- The topics of interest for MLE 2022 include: - Methodologies, languages, techniques, and methods for designing and implementing modeling languages - Composition, extension, and reuse of modeling languages and model execution tools - Heterogeneous modeling, simulation, and execution - Customization of modeling languages - Integration of modeling languages and programming languages - Semantics-aware model transformations and code generation - Scalability of model execution and execution-based model analysis - Execution of partial and underspecified models - Model execution in the presence of non-determinism and concurrency - Tracing model executions and analyzing model execution traces - Model execution tools for the (dynamic) validation, verification, and testing of systems (e.g., model animation, debugging, simulation, trace exploration, model checking, symbolic execution) - Live modeling and exploratory modeling techniques - Automation techniques for the development of modeling and model execution tools - Evolution in the context of executable modeling (e.g.} evolution of executable modeling languages, execution semantics, executable models, model execution tools) - Verification of semantic conformance (e.g., among executable modeling languages, executable models, model execution tools) - Integration challenges for languages, from requirements to design, for analysis and simulation, during runtime, etc. --------------------------- Important Dates --------------------------- - Abstract submission deadline: July 13, 2022 - Paper submission deadline: July 20, 2022 - Notification of acceptance: August 19, 2022 - Camera-ready deadline: August 26, 2022 --------------------------- Organization committee --------------------------- - Erwan Bousse (Nantes University) - Faezeh Khorram (IMT Atlantique) - Juha-Pekka Tolvanen (MetaCase) --------------------------- Program Committee --------------------------- - Jeff Gray (University of Alabama), - Thomas Degueule (CNRS), - Jérémie Tatibouët (CEA), - Marjan Mernik (University of Maribor), - Federico Tomassetti (Strumenta), - Sébastien Gérard (CEA LIST), - Daniele Dii Pompeo (University of L'Aquila), - Ralf Lämmel (Universität Koblenz, Facebook London), - Davide Di Ruscio (University of L’Aquila), - Massimo Tisi (IMT Atlantique), - Antonio Garmendia (JKU Linz), - Antonio Garcia-Dominguez (Aston University), - Bianca Wiesmayr (JKU Linz).
