Kind regards, Pieter van Gorp and Antonio Garcia-Dominguez Publicity chairs of STAF'17 ------------------ Apologies for multiple postings ------------------ STAF 2017: Software Technologies: Applications and Foundations July 17-21, 2017, Marburg, Germany http://www.informatik.uni-marburg.de/staf2017/ -------------------------------------------------------------------- Call for Workshops -------------------------------------------------------------------- Software Technologies: Applications and Foundations (STAF) is a federation of leading conferences on software technologies. It was formed after the end of the successful TOOLS federated event (http://tools.ethz.ch) in 2012, providing a loose umbrella organisation, with a steering committee that aims to provide continuity. The STAF federated event runs annually; the conferences that participate may vary from year to year, but all focus on practical and foundational advances in software technology. The conferences address all aspects of software technology, from object-oriented design, testing, formal approaches to modelling and verification, transformation, model-driven engineering, aspect-oriented techniques, and tools. STAF 2017 will bring together - 10th International Conference on Model Transformation (ICMT) - 10th International Conference on Graph Transformation (ICGT) - 13th European Conference on Modelling Foundations and Applications (ECMFA) - 11th International Conference on Tests and Proof (TAP) STAF 2017 will also host a number of satellite events including workshops. Workshops will provide a collaborative forum for groups of typically 15 to 35 participants to exchange recent and/or preliminary results, to conduct intensive discussions on a particular topic, or to coordinate efforts between representatives of a technical community. They are intended as a forum for lively discussion of innovative ideas, recent progress, or practical experience on specific aspects, specific problems, or domain-specific needs. Each workshop should provide a balanced distribution of its time for both presentation of papers and discussions. We encourage prospective workshop organizers to submit proposals for highly-interactive workshops. Both research-oriented and applied topics are welcome. Nowadays, complex systems of all types, like Web-based systems, data centers and cloud infrastructures, social networks, peer-to-peer, mobile and wireless systems, cyber-physical systems, the Internet of Things, real-time and embedded systems, have increasingly distributed and dynamic system architectures that provide high flexibility, however, also increase the complexity of managing end-to-end application performance. ICPE brings together researchers and industry practitioners to share and present their experiences, discuss challenges, and report state-of-the-art and in-progress research on performance engineering of software and systems, including performance measurement, modeling, benchmark design, and run-time performance management. The focus is both on classical metrics such as response time, throughput, resource utilization, and (energy) efficiency, as well as on the relationship of such metrics to other system properties including but not limited to scalability, elasticity, availability, reliability, and security. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CALL FOR WORK IN PROGRESS AND VISION PAPERS The goal of the work-in-progress and vision track is two-fold: - To provide the opportunity for attendees to present and discuss preliminary results from their latest work obtaining some early feedback from the community. - To provide the opportunity to present position papers on emerging hot topics in the field of performance engineering motivating new research directions. Work-in-progress papers present promising preliminary results that may not have been fully validated yet. Although full validation is not required, the work presented should be advanced enough to allow attendees to appreciate its scope and significance. Vision papers present emerging research challenges and long-term research directions on topics relevant to the performance engineering community. Submissions should clearly present the research questions and their rationale sketching possible approaches to their resolution. The goal of such papers is to motivate new research and generate debate and discussions on the latest challenges in the field of performance engineering. All contributions must be original, not published, accepted or submitted for publication elsewhere. Accepted papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings and included in the ACM Digital Library. More information can be found at https://icpe2017.spec.org/submissions/work-in-progress-and-vision-track.html. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SUBMISSION GUIDELINES Submissions are made via Easychair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=icpe2017) and should be clearly marked in the text as "Work-In-Progress Paper" or "Vision Paper", respectively. Submissions must be in the standard ACM format for conference proceedings. Papers should not exceed 4 pages double column including figures and tables. At least one author of each accepted paper is required to register at the full rate, attend the conference and present the paper. Presented papers will be published in the ICPE 2017 conference proceedings that will be published by ACM and included in the ACM Digital Library. Authors are required to adhere to the ACM Policy and Procedures on Plagiarism as well as to the ACM Policy on Prior Publication and Simultaneous Submissions. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ PROGRAM COMMITTEE Amy Apon, Clemson University Martin Arlitt, HP Labs and University of Calgary Alberto Avritzer, Performance Engineering Consultant Steffen Becker, University of Technology Chemnitz Robert Birke, IBM Zurich Research Laboratory Andre B. The 22nd edition of the conference will be held in Limassol, Cyprus. Limassol (or Lemesos) is a multicultural bustling town, flanked by two ancient cities, Amathus and Kourion, and guarded by the Amathusian Aphrodite and Appolo Hylates. It is a town of great visual diversity and contrast from spectacular seafront views, historic places like the mediaeval Castle, and Byzantine churches. Along the 17 km long sandy beaches, two Marinas, world renowned 5 star hotels, and a most exciting dining, shopping, nightlife and yachting scene create a year-round vibrant lifestyle well beyond the expectations of a Mediterranean island. ACM IUI is where the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) community meets the Artificial Intelligence (AI), with contributions from related fields such as psychology, behavioral science, cognitive science, computer graphics, design or the arts. Our focus is to improve the interaction between humans and machines, by leveraging both more traditional HCI approaches, as well as solutions that involve state-of-the art AI techniques such as machine learning, natural language processing, data mining, knowledge representation and reasoning. ACM IUI welcomes contribution from any relevant arena: academia, business, or non-profit organizations. Demos The demonstrations track complements the overall program of the conference. Demonstrations show implementations of novel, interesting, and important intelligent user interface concepts or systems. Please forward to whomever you think may be interested!] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ LASSY' 17 - Second Workshop on Live Adaptation of Software SYstems 3rd of April, 2017 in Brussels, Belgium http://conf.researchr.org/track/LASSY-2017/LASSY-2017-papers co-located with 2017 http://2017.programmingconference.org Submission deadline: Jan 13, 2017 https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=lassy20160 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ # Second Workshop on Live Adaptation of Software SYstems (LASSY) Developing current-day software systems is challenging. On the one hand, their development and usage environment must be considered carefully, to understand the adaptations those systems might need to undergo to interact with other systems and their environment. On the other hand, due to the portability, mobility and increasingly evolutionary nature of software systems, such adaptations must be enacted while the system is running. In the past, couple of years many seemingly different techniques to address this concern have been proposed in isolation. The goal of LASSY is to congregate all topics relevant to dynamic adaptation and run-time evolution of software systems. The Live Adaptation of Software SYstems (LASSY) workshop provides a space for discussion and collaboration between researchers working on the problem of enabling live adaptations to software systems, across the development stack. After a successful first edition, hosted at the *Modularity 2016* conference, the 2017 edition of the LASSY workshop will be collocated with the new ** 2017 conference. ## Important Dates Submission Deadline: February 3, 2017 Notification: March 3, 2017 Camera-Ready: March 10, 2017 Workshop: 3rd of April, 2017 ## Topics of Interest * Design and Implementation of Live Adaptive Software Systems * Context-, aspect-, feature-, role- and agent-oriented programming * Context representation and discovery * Context-aware model-driven software development * Context-aware data management * Software variability and dynamic product lines * Self-adaptive, self-explanatory systems * Inconsistency management, verification, and validation * Middleware and Runtime of Live Adaptive Software Systems * Dynamic software evolution, upgrades and configuration * Dynamic software and service composition mechanisms * Dynamic software architecture and middleware approaches * Dynamic user interface adaptation and multimodal user interfaces * Impact and Assessment of Live Adaptive Software Systems * User acceptance and usability issues * Human, sociological, ethical and legal aspects * Privacy and security aspects of dynamic adaptability * Live adaptation in smart environments (e.g. smart rooms, smart robot cells, smart factories, smart cities) * Self-adaptation and emergence in SoS and CPSoS ## Important Links * [Workshop website](http://conf.researchr.org/track/LASSY-2017/LASSY-2017-papers) * [Submission page](https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=lassy20160) * [Conference website](http://2017.programmingconference.org) ## Submission Submitted papers must not exceed 6 pages and must conform to the [ACM SIGPLAN Proceedings Format](http://www.sigplan.org/Resources/Author/).
